   American Bulldog (Hybrid type)  

American Bulldog (Hybrid type) / AmBull The American Bulldog (Hybrid type), is a large-size breed of dog that originated in the United States. This article will give a general description of the American Bulldog as well as describe the Hybrid type. The Hybrid type was bred to have the athletic ability and temperament of the Standard / Scott type with more of the Johnson / Bully type's size. Most dogs of today could be put in this category as more and more breeders use mixed blood.

   American Bulldog Johnson type

The Johnson type is one of the generally accepted two types of American Bulldog, the other is the Scott type, both are named after the breeders who were influential in developing them, John D. Johnson and Allen Scott. These are more commonly known as Classic or Bully type and Standard or Performance type. This article will describe the Johnson type. The Johnson type was bred for size and impressive appearance.

The Painter type was bred from two more generally accepted types of the American Bulldog were bred, namely the Scott type and the Johnson type. This article gives a description of the Painter type. The Painter type is a performance strain of American Bulldogs that Joe Painter, Margentina and Tappe started breeding and was more suited for dog fighting.

Banter Bulldogges appear to the eye as a cross between the Boxer and the American Pitbull Terrier, both breeds are well-used in the breeding of the Banter Bulldogge, however the Boxer influence appears stronger present (both in genotype and phenotype).

The Caucasian Ovcharka of today is more of a family dog, but is occasionally still used as a protector of herds or as a watch dog.

Dogue Brasileiro / Box-Terrier The Dogue Brasileiro or Box-Terrier is not a purebred dog. It is a multi-generation cross between the Boxer and the English Bull Terrier, inheriting traits of both and developed some traits of his own by selection for a purpose. The purpose of the Dogue Brasileiro was to guard, especially against the renowned car-jacking in the Latin American countries, and Brasil in particular. Such a task demands a compact but fearless dog.

A family dog that doesn't require much, and is a part of the Molossers group.

   Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier  

Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Irish Stafford The Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a medium sized, short coated, muscular dog that was developed in England, specificly Staffordshire, and subsequently evolved in Ireland.

   Moscow Watchdog  

Moscow Watchdog / Moscow Dog The Moscow Watchdog is a large sized, heavy and muscular dog that was developed in Moscow, Russia (then the Soviet Union) after World War II. It was bred from crosses between the St. Bernard, Caucasian Shepherd, and Russian Spotted Hound breeds. The Moscow Watchdog is mostly used as both a family dog and watch dog.

   Neapolitan Mastiff

The Saint Bernard was used in the past at the Saint Bernard Pass (nowadays known as the Great St Bernard Pass) as a search and rescue dog in the cold ad snow crowded area and as a protection dog. The Saint Bernard of today is more of a family dog, but is occasionally still used as watch dog.
